James "Jimi" Carnazza - Founder & President of FCE. Jimi is an alumna of Salem State with a B.S. in Sociology, earned a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling through UMass Boston & is an Accredited Organic Land Care Professional by the Northeast Organic Farming Association. Inspired by the wonders of nature, the great urgency to create a better world for his newborn son, and the need to integrate environmental sustainability with students and adults of all abilities, Jimi founded FCE in 2012. He met founding board member Jeff while completing a work study program at Arcosanti in 2009 and joined forces with Estelle Rand (founding board member) in 2011 to provide composting and education resources at the Beverly Farmers Market. Currently, he is working as a Qualified Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC) and lives in Beverly, MA with his wife Bonnie, their son Paul, and daughter Una May!

Jeff Buderer - FCE Board-member, Strategy Planning and Website Development. Jeff received his degree in Political Science. As an advocate for sustainability, he has focused on the role of appropriate technology in promoting more ecologically and socially sustainable economic development. His defining experience was at Arcosanti in highlighting an alternative approach to sustainability focusing on a compact urban city design called Arcology. He also worked with a non-profit focused on how information technologies can promote more sustainable development in non-affluent regions of the world.

Malgorzata "Margaret" Nabialczyk Chalupowski - MD, PhD, JD. Margaret is a Takemi Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. An experienced clinician, educator, researcher, legal and science writer, avid advocate for human rights and passionate environmentalist, she presently serves as an academic advisor to current and former Harvard Takemi Fellows pursuing research in quality management and women's health. Margaret and her husband Chester, an insurance and real-estate professional, musician and documentarian, live in Beverly, MA and have extensive international experience gained while working together overseas on global health projects in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and South-East Asia.

Community Advisory Board
Curtis Dragon - Former FCE Board-member, AAS, AOLCP, MCA, MCH: Arborist / Horticulturist. Curt is owner of Earth Landscape & Construction. He holds an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Horticulture with Honors Certificate, and has been in the Landscaping / Construction business for over forty years. In addition to his work with FCE, Curtis has been a consultant and advisor for the Greenscapes Program, is on the advisory board of North Shore Community College, and provides Sustainable Greenscapes consulting, workshops and presentations.

Dr. Joe Buttner - Certified Fisheries Scientist and Professor of Biology at Salem State University. Joe’s duties include Co-coordination of the North Eastern Massachusetts Aquaculture Center and Outreach Specialist for the Cat Cove Marine Laboratory. His primary focus is on aquaculture education, outreach and research. |
Dr. Richard Nastasi - Professor of Sport Science at Endicott College. Rich has expertise in curriculum development and has a keen interest in collaboration. He is building partnerships that are driving the growth of the Earth Skills Training program through the creation of a FCE Independent Study Program,

Sarah Nastasi - Formerly Vice President of Research Data and Systems at Comcast Spotlight. Sarah brings her organizational and project management skills to the development and execution of the FCE mission. Her focus is on the operational aspects of the organization and in particular, the growth of the Vocational Training Program for adults with disabilities.

Susan Sackler Reuben - Certified Master Gardener. Susan has used her broad horticultural knowledge to design residential and school gardens. At one elementary school, her design connected a topic of each grade's curriculum to their garden, ex. Monet and butterflies. She planned and supervised the planting with every class, and now brings her enthusiasm and expertise to FCE, assisting with garden design. After working as a Mechanical Engineer for 35 years, Susan retired in January of 2020.
